Jake & Drew's Birthday Party

We went to a birthday party this afternoon for Hinton's kindergarten friends Jake and Drew (who are twins).  They had quite the obstacle course set-up!

Tug-of-war!

Kason got to take a whack at the pinata.

"kindergarten" playdate

We met a bunch of Hinton's friends at Nelson Park this afternoon.

At one point a bunch of them all got on the merry-go-round together.

Clever Pinata Idea

We went to Gavin's (a kindergarten friend of Hinton) birthday party this afternoon.  I thought they had a really clever idea, using Hulk gloves with a Spiderman piƱata.

Kason got to have a turn too.

Scavenger Hunt

School may be out, but Hinton's kindergarten teacher organized a fun playdate and scavenger hunt at the park for his class.

We found everything except a feather and an acorn.

Kindergarten Program

The two kindergarten classes at Hinton's school had their final program this morning.

(Hinton is third from the left, in the back row.)
They sang a bunch of songs.
And then they did their Zumba routine to the song What Does The Fox Say.
It cracked me up!  You can watch it by clicking HERE.

They were presented with their Kindergarten Memory Books after the performance.

We also got to take home Hinton's writing journal, which he wrote in once each month throughout the school year. I loved being able to see how much progress he was making month to month.

Last day of Kindergarten!

I can't believe Hinton's last day of Kindergarten is already here!

If you look at the lines on the door behind him,
you can see how much he's grown in the past year.

Kindergarten Dairy Fieldtrip

This morning both kindergarten classes took a trip to the Rickreall Dairy.  Jaxx came with us.

Jaxx enjoyed feeding the calf.
Hinton couldn't be convinced to get close enough to even try.

Mother's Day Gift

This beautiful butterfly/hand print flower pot was Hinton's Mother's Day gift to me.
He made it at school.

To Mom
From
Hinton
Rolston.

I love that he put his last name on the card. Wouldn't want to confuse him with any other Hinton's who might be giving me a Mother's Day gift.  :-)

Readers Theater

All of the kiddos in Hinton's reading group did a "readers theater" performance of The Little Red Hen this morning.  They invited the parents of the readers to come and watch.

Valentine's Day, 2014

The boys each got a little basket of goodies to celebrate Valentine's Day.

Hinton was up sick in the middle of the night, so he had to miss his Valentine's Day party at school.  His teacher is wonderful, and actually stopped by our house after school to bring him his Valentines and a cookie from the party!  By then he was already feeling better, and he had fun reading them all.

These are the beautiful tulips I was lucky
enough to get for Valentine's Day!
This is the sick kid "excited" that he got
General Grievous in his Valentine's Day basket.
