Oregon Gardens Fieldtrip

Today Hinton's class had a fieldtrip to the Oregon Gardens.

They went on a nature scavenger hunt.

 Kason was excited to be one of the "big kids".

Then we went looking for creatures in their natural environment.

 We found a bug to examine close-up!

By the end of the fieldtrip it was raining.  

But everyone had to stop to watch a snake s-l-o-w-l-y eating a frog!

Hinton's Bird Presentation (video)

Hinton had his bird presentation this afternoon!  The presentations were given in a big room full of his classmates and a bunch of parents.  I am very proud of him.  His teacher started out by taking volunteers, alternating girl/boy, and his hand shot right up and he was the first boy to present.  I asked him on the drive home if he had been nervous at all, or if it was just fun, and he said, "a little bit of both."

Hinton's Bird Poster

Hinton is doing a presentation on The Peregrine Falcon. 
His homework this week is to make a poster to use during his presentation.

Who wants big brother to get all of the photos?  Kason wanted some attention too.

Building A Birdhouse

Hinton's class is doing a bird unit, and today someone from
the Audobon Society came and helped them build birdhouses.

Brandon had the day off, so I was able to go in and help too.

Aside from recess (of course),

Hinton's favorite thing to do in school is write stories.

Baxter Road Clean Up

Hinton's class picked up garbage along Baxter Road this afternoon as a
school service project.  It was a little rainy, but everyone had lots of fun!

Spelling practice

Part of Hinton's homework each afternoon is to practice his spelling words, and one of his options is to type all of the words in an e-mail to his teacher, which he LOVES do do.

Hinton's Classroom Visit

We got to visit Hinton's new classroom this morning!

Bookmobile Visit

 We went to the Saturday Market today,
and stopped by the Bookmobile while we were there.
